Question of the Day:  Yesterday, it was announced that Canadian civil rights leader, Viola Desmond, will replace John A. Macdonald on the $10 bill in 2018.  Do you think we should have kept Macdonald, our first ever Prime Minister, and put our first female on another bill instead?  (To read more about Viola’s inspirational story, click here.)

I do think that it is important to have a female on a bill, and what she did was amazing. However, I think that we should keep our first prime minister who came up with the first laws and helped to shape this country into what it is today. I think that we should keep John A. Macdonald and put Viola Desmond on another bill or even a coin. What do you think?

I’d prefer to see her on the $20. All the PMs on current bills were important to Canada’s history. The Queen is not. It makes more sense to me to replace her than John A.
